Has been celebrated since 882 AD

It was on Buda Kliwon Dungulan, Saka Year 804 or around 882 AD. Since then Galungan Day has always been celebrated annually in Bali.

Each region in Bali has its own traditions and ways to celebrate Galungan. The most common and easy to find tradition is Ngelawang Barong. It is the tradition of parading barong around the temple accompanied by the drum and kenong. Ngelawang Barong is usually done by children.
